Introduction

AM Engineering, LLC (AME) is seeking a highly motivated Survey Crew Chief to join our growing team in our Sarasota office. AME is a medium-size engineering and surveying consulting firm that specializes in the design and construction of residential and commercial land development projects.

Overview

As a Crew Chief at AME, you will work on diverse projects within the surveying industry. You will work in a flexible and active work environment both out in the field and in office. AME is looking for Crew Chiefs that are interested in being subject matter experts in residential, commercial or industrial land development. Our diverse project scopes allow you to cross-market your skillsets while working with other professionals such as: environmental, construction/excavation and regulatory teams across the business.

• Drives to and from sites daily.
• Set up, adjust, and operate survey equipment including: level, robotic total station, data collector and GPS equipment.
• Measure distances, angles, and elevations for staking purposes.
• Reviewing survey field calculations and adjust when needed.
• Locating or establishing vertical and horizontal control.
• Utilizing various surveying equipment to measure various data including: curb and gutter, water & sewer, storm drain and paving, etc…
• Prepare field notes to complete as-built drawings.
• Responsible to maintain work-issued vehicle, and survey equipment.
• Follow Hamilton’s safety protocols.
• Work independently as a one-man crew, when needed.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering/construction plans.
• Effectively communicate with contractors, inspectors and team leads in high-pressure environments.

• High School Diploma or Technical degree
• Five (5) plus years of experience in Construction Staking, Topo, & ALTA
• Valid driver’s license
• Basic knowledge/skills with various data collecting software and general computer knowledge
• Physical capabilities: Lift 50 lbs.; driving lath with small sledge; on feet 4-5 hrs. at a time; work in direct sunlight
